It’s probably happened to most of us. You’re sat there with nothing to do so you scroll through Netflix, only to discover there’s nothing that interests you. So what are some of the best programmes to watch on Netflix? Check out our selection below.

Prison Break

There are four seasons of Prison Break, although 3 and 4 get progressively worse. It begins with super-intelligent architect, Michael Scofield, planning to break out his brother – who has been sentenced to death for the supposed murder of the Vice President’s brother. The first series follows the story of Michael, his brother and some of the people they encounter whilst trying to break out of Fox River Penitentiary.

Power is a truly captivating programme that follows James St Patrick, a downtown New York club owner/the largest drug dealer in the city. It’s a brilliant series, with the fourth season coming out this summer – I can’t wait!

Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad is set in Colorado, USA, and follows the story of Walter White – an ex-high school science teacher, recently diagnosed with cancer, who goes into the trade of cooking crystal meth. It really is a great series, with the final season having one of my favourite storylines ever.

Pablo Escobar was one of the most powerful people in the world in the ’80s and ’90s, reportedly earning over $420 million a week from his drug empire. This brilliant show tells the story of Escobar, his family and some of the most infamous ‘Narcos’ in South America.

Idris Elba is at his best in Luther. He plays DCI John Luther, a genius murder detective in London. This British crime drama has won and been nominated for several awards including a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Critics’ Choice Television Award.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

If you’ve never seen an episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air then I don’t know what to say to you. One of the best programs from the ’90s, and Netflix has the full collection! Definitely one to add to your list, even if you’ve seen it all already.

Top Boy

Ashley Walters and Kano star in this gripping British crime drama. Set in the housing estates of Summerhouse, this show follows the lives of East London gang members and some of the problems they encounter. Drake is even involved in bringing it back for a third season, with filming rumoured to be going on already.

Whilst this show can really be confusing at times, it is extremely addicting. It follows the stories of eight individuals around the world who are all connected by their minds, often going into each others bodies to help them out. As I said it’s quite confusing, but it’s definitely worth a watch!

Fresh Meat

This hilarious comedy about University students from Manchester is another good one to watch. If you’re anything like me, you’ll end up watching the first few series of this in a week. It really is a funny show.

How To Get Away With Murder

How To Get Away With Murder follows a criminal defence attorney/professor of defence law, Annalise Keating, and a group of her students. Whilst learning the art of defence law through hands-on learning with Annalise’s attorney work, the group gets quite caught up in their cases.
